Day 4, Diamonds In The Rough....

Michele and I were up and gone early, catching one of the early buses into town. After a quick run back to the cabin from the bus stop, Michele had left her wristband that acts as your bus pass and Sunnies on the table. Oh well, always saying lately that I need to start running in the mornings again. The plan was to go into town and walk up and down the streets checking out all the buskers. I must say there are some very talented musos amoung them. The first busker we watched played guitar, bass, drums and sang simultaneously. He did an awesome rendition of Springsteen's "I'm On Fire". We continued to walk around before grabbing some breakfast where another busker was doing his thing. This guy had his groove and personality down pat, just awesome to watch his love and passion for his music.

At around 11ish we headed to the venue called The Post Office. Vanessa Delaine , a fellow muso we had met at Scorcherfest was going to be playing there. While we were waiting for Vanessa to start, we watched a young guy called Scott play his originals and some covers. Again, another talented musician, enjoyed watching him play. Vanessa was up next, she has been doing really well, winning awards overseas for her songs. We then headed to the Services Club to grab some Lunch and to check out who was playing there. Michael Bryers was performing with his band. These guys were amazing, Michael's songwriting and performance reminded me of why us musicians do what we do. The rest of the band were exceptional musos, technique and dynamics were top shelf. Michele and I went and had a quick chat to Michael as we purchased his CD. Pretty sure the CD will be getting a spin on our drive home later this week. After Michael finished it was time for Texas Rose to do her thing. The one thing that we can take from her above all else is she knows how to engage a crowd and entertain. She can sing alright too, it was just a real fun, down to earth set.

Back on the bus to see Vanessa play at the local bowling club and then back to the cabin to rest. To sum it up today was a revelation of sorts, never assume, follow your heart and dreams, do things for the right reasons and lastly, just be yourself and own it....
