New Year Resolutions and Revelations....

2017, has come to a close. Looking back it has been an interesting year for us, Michele, Liquid Lunch and me.

There has been so much change, we have relocated our lives several times, from Coffin Bay to Parachilna. Then back to Coffin Bay for a few months, then back to Parachilna to work at the Prairie Hotel. Then it was onto Roxby Downs in the final months of the year. All these moves were made due to employment. All the while still gigging regularly all over our home state of South Australia. From Willalooka in the South, to Penong in the West to Roxby Downs in the North and Clare in the East. We have done some miles and can now claim the title of "Road Warriors". Just last weekend we racked up close to 2,000kms in 3 days.

2017 brought success and disappointment for Liquid Lunch. We released our debut EP "Sketches 2 Seed" into the cyber world. To hear your music being played and listened to around the world is a bit surreal at times. The excitement of getting our first sale, hearing our music on community radio, doing interviews via phone and in person, performing live to air, is something hard to explain.

These opportunities weren't just presented to us though, they were hard fought and grafted through sending numerous emails, phone calls, rocking up on doorsteps.

As much as we were accepted we also felt the sting of rejection.

Even as I am writing this, we have again begun a new submission stage, so far we have received some constructive feedback but nothing more, those words "Sorry, your submission has been declined" still makes the heart sink and the doubts creep in. It is easy to lose your focus to the negatives. I have had a personal battle with "The Black Dog" for most of my life, so I feel things more strongly than I should at times. However, I know it's all about self talk. So, shift the focus on the positives. Some of the ones that stand out are, 1) We released our music onto the world stage 2) People have bought our music 3) We have had community radio suppport, both here in Australia and abroad 4) We have had some great reviews and articles about us 5) We have forged some amazing friendships within the industry 6) We are still getting booked regularly 7) We were nominated for a SAMS award (South Australian Music Awards) for "All She Wants"

8) We received a letter of congratulations from our local member of Parliament, Mr Peter Treloar.

9) We are still traveling the state, doing some thing we are passionate about

10) We played a gig for What's Up Downunder TV show

All these things are fantastic and greatly appreciated, but the one thing I am most grateful for is the support of family, friends, fans, everyday people that turn up at our gigs. I can't express in words the gratitude I have for you all in helping us live our dreams.

Anyways, next up is 2018, new music, new direction, new challenges, new venues, new faces. My resolution for this year, is to be present in the moment. Breathe it, feel it, taste it, revel in it. Just be, just be.....

Thank you all for your support and we will see you somewhere in 2018....

 Cheers

Ken
