Sh#t Your Ego Says....
It's no to often that I will buy a book and completely read it on the same day. Michele and I were doing some final Chrissy shopping in a bookstore in Adelaide, when I stumbled upon Sh#t Your Ego Says by James McCrae. When I say stumbled, I was interested in another book and was deciding on whether or not I should buy it. Out of the corner of my eye I seen the word Ego, then the rest of the title became clear. I reached out and picked it up, right then I had an overwhelming feeling that I needed to read this book.Â
When we got back to Michele's Mum's place, I opened it and began reading. Within minutes I had more than a few a ha moments. I totally related to it, the words resonated more and more loudly with every page that turned. For once, I felt I had found a kindred, someone that felt the same pain and confusion that I had felt. It helped me come to terms with the way I thought about things. How our egos fuel our doubts and insecurities. The conflicting voices that battle within our minds.
If you find yourself struggling with self doubt or feeling insecure, I cannot recommend reading this book any higher. It awakens you, it shines a light, it gives you awareness.
One of my favourite lines out of the book is......
"Difficult moments, when we embrace them, make us stronger. Pressure turns coal into a diamond, boot camp turns civilians into soldiers, and seemingly unfair circumstances can prepare us for a greater purpose." Â - James McCrae
